2. After denying the applicability of the dictionary definition for success to everyone’s situation (he considers wrong definitions to be the equivalence of phony expectations) he challenges the reader to focus on factors they can control in creating their own definition. Why does this focus make a difference? Dou you agree with his concept—to focus on the things you can control?

3. Finding a mentor is places right after getting a job. If this implies priority, why is this suggested? Do you agree that it’s important? Why or why not?

4. Is becoming the best technical person you can be, high on your priority list? Why does the author make such a big deal about it? Do you think the item warrants the emphasis the author puts on it?

5. Do you think networking is the same as exploiting a friendship or taking advantage of a relationship? When would that be the case? When would it not be the case? So, do you have a network? Are you going to build one? Reasons?

6. Dows sponsorship operate in your working situation? What evidence can you provide to support your answer?

7. Why is the admonition to “perform well” of chapter eight different from the challenge to “become the best technical person you can be” in chapter four?Is it possible to do chapter four and not do chapter eight? Are there consequences?

8. Do ou really believe you need a Plan B? And a Plan C? Explain.

9. If you actually developed the character qualities of chapter ten to an effective degree, how would that help you? What part of your life would it affect most?

10. Do you see boredom, the need for freedom, and the aperture on your lens as potentially limiting factors? Do you think it’s possible to adjust/correct them? How?

11. If you apply all you’ve read, what is the outcome? Why, the, are the principles of this book still valuable?

12. What do you say to the person who is 100% bent on being the CEO? Can you support his or her aspirations? Would you give them any suggestions?
